Death Valley Tracks

We got up with the sun our first morning in Death Valley, even though we didn't get into camp at Stovepipe Wells Campground until 12:30 a.m. There were to many things waiting outside our tent door that we just knew we wouldn't want to miss. The kids and I left dad in his sleeping bag and set out for a walk out behind the campground looking for things to see. The light was so warm. It felt so good to the cold weather we had left behind back in Washington.
Our first discovery was mounds with plants growing out of them to climb on and leap from.

Our second discovery was tracks made by little creatures that must have been scurrying everywhere while we were sleeping. I wonder what made them? A Kangaroo Rat? A lizard? A bird? An insect? I wish we knew more.

The one looks like some type of lizard because the line looks like the tail drug! I didn't realize you had children too. I love the picture on the mound because it shows joy! :o)
