2000 years ago there were volcanoes erupting in Death Valley. They left some interesting craters. We got to see Ubehebe Crater (pronounced You-bee-hee-bee). It is around a half mile wide and 750 feet deep. Forest and my husband when running and jumping on the path down into the bottom of the crater while Emily Rose and I sat on the top and sketched the landscape. The colors were beautiful.

What a lovely place to watercolor! It was cold and windy when we were then in December --- but our boys had their own artistic adventure on the road leading out. They stopped to do some filming and made a short movie using their footage when they got home. This was our 'take off' point to Teakettle Junction!
